Grassley said the language he heard at Wednesday’s town hall was “stronger” than what he’s seen elsewhere.
“You’ll see that people have very strong feelings. You heard me also say in the beginning that a lot of us have been advised not to have these town meetings because it gives a forum for people to exert disagreement,” Grassley says. “Sometimes very strong disagreement with what’s going on in Washington.”
Virtually spelling out that the politicians don’t care and don’t want to know about their constituent’s issues. What matters is playing Washington Power Games and getting the associated funding from those who have money.
You heard me also say in the beginning that a lot of us have been advised not to have these town meetings because it gives a forum for people to exert disagreement," Grassley says. “Sometimes very strong disagreement with what’s going on in Washington.”
No fucking shit, you goddamn actual retard.
It’s almost like town halls are an opportunity for your constituents to let you know that you’re not doing a good job of representing them.
Who’d have thought??
What a dumb fuck old coot. PUT UP OR SHUT UP
You heard me also say in the beginning that a lot of us have been advised not to have these town meetings because it gives a forum for people to exert disagreement," Grassley says. “Sometimes very strong disagreement with what’s going on in Washington.”
You, uh, might want to reflect on that, just a bit, and then try to remember what your job is.
Yeah. Smart people want to find out if there’s a problem that might impact their job before they lose it. You can be smart, or don’t, the universe doesn’t really care.
What makes you think anyone is in danger of losing their job? Red voters vote red every time. If you’re saying there should be a limit to how much bullshit they will put up with from their reps then I agree. However, history says there isn’t.
An independent pro-labor candidate in Nebraska ran against Deb Fischer last year and only lost by a few points. In a better environment, he very much could’ve won.
MAGA traitors can absolutely be defeated if we run the right candidates.
Because they love Jesus as much, maybe more, than I do! And they told me Jesus loves them, and me, too! And they said other things that confirmed my biases and it made me feel good about my anger! And then they said abortion is evil and that’s what my church man said Jesus said and then Jesus looked at me! I hate immigrants!
Their job is to represent their donors who pay them, at least according to them.
Perhaps he should grow a pair listen to his constituents. And then grow a fucking spine so he can stand up to this horseshit.
Anyone that doesn’t should be voted out next election. We don’t have time for this nonsense with the stakes so high.
“We have a due process and it was not followed and the Supreme Court ruled that he needed to come back, so Trump said, 'Nope I’m not going to do that,” so why do we even have a Supreme Court if they are not going to follow the ruling of the Supreme Court?" the unidentified constituent asks Grassley.
Her question is met with applause by the audience.
Grassley responded by pointing out other parts of the court’s rulings.
“You’re looking at part of the Supreme Court decision, so let me give you the rest of the Supreme Court’s decision,” Grassley says. “The Supreme Court said, like you said, the president ought to make a good faith effort to get this person returned. But it also said to the district judge that you should be careful that you don’t interfere with the constitutional responsibilities of the federal government to conduct our foreign affairs. Which is totally within the executive branch of government.”
The senator was also booed when he suggested that Abrego Garcia’s case “wouldn’t have been an issue if [former President Joe] Biden had enforced the law.”
you fucking goober Grassley
The Supreme Court said, like you said, the president ought to make a good faith effort to get this person returned.
Great. You showed that you can hear and repeat what she already said. Where’s the part where you explain why it’s okay for the President to ignore that order? Because of “foreign affairs”? If asking a foreign government to return someone they deported by mistake is a foreign affairs issue, then THEY SHOULDN’T BE FUCKING DEPORTING PEOPLE WITHOUT DUE PROCESS IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!
the audience isnt falling for it,
There is one thing that could potentially make average Americans join forces: most every single politician, regardless of affiliation, is dangerously out of touch.
Can you imagine actively sabotaging your company, putting it in severe financial distress, then telling your boss that you aren’t supposed to take meetings with them because your coworkers told you that there could be “disagreement”?
Because this is actively what he’s doing, lol.
If they are not afraid of constituents, who exactly are they afraid of?
Their donors and retaliation from Trump.
Chuck Grassley last won his Senate election in 2022, and is not due for re-election until 2028.
The margin was 56.0% to 43.8%; so I’m pretty sure he’s expecting to weather the current storm of protest and wait for it to die down - and see what’s going to happen come the 2028 Presidential election cycle, namely if Trump is going to try and run again somehow.
If he were to go against Trump’s policies now, it just puts him in the crosshairs of the MAGA crowd and Elon’s dark-money.
Charles Grassley is slimy, but is also currently 91. He will be 95 is 2028, and is rapidly hitting “Diane Feinstein” levels of politics. He’s not particularly afraid of his constituents, but he’s a reliable tool for the modern GOP and can be counted on to only act concerned but vote the line.
He has also already filed to run again in 2028; https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/3740578-grassley-has-already-filed-for-reelection-bid-in-2028/
Part of me thinks that Grassley might just be holding on to try and unseat Strom Thurman as the oldest ever sitting senator (Thurman made it to 100 years, 29 days).
hes already older than feinstein, she died at 89? from Shingles encephalitis, yes the chickenpox can cause meningitis when it reactivates.
Did Grassley do anything differently? or did he continue to defend a nazis dick-fuck?
still hair-splitting and hem-hawing to make it seem things aren’t as bad as they are
Things aren’t bad for him yet, and that’s the only way he knows if things are bad.
Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley faced another room of hearted constituents at a town hall in Northwood, Iowa, on Wednesday.
Top-tier, ABCnews. Fucking learn how to edit. Corporate news can’t call trump a liar, refuses to point out he’s a demented rapist, at least read your own goddamned copy before hitting Publish.
Top-tier, ABCnews. Fucking learn how to edit.
Did you also catch that he was identified as “R-Indiana” in the video?
They can have him.
MSM has more or less been helping trump for the last 4 years.
- More if you count the birth certificate / CP5 and things like that
At least he has the spine to actually show up.
From some of his responses, it sounds like he’s not there to listen to his constituents’ concerns but instead to do PR for the regime.
There is apparently such a thing as bad PR.
You mean he’s missing the parts of his brain that would have made him decide not to go, as going there was dumb (from his perspective anyways)
These people are either evil or incompetent, osyly both.
Why do we keep electing these dinosaurs?
Gerrymandering
Not senate seats. That’s statewide. The entire state voted for this chode.
I mean, he has 2 ears. We wouldn’t want him to be unbalanced.
He’s already forgotten he was there.
