chilicheeselies@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•A VPN Company Canceled All Lifetime Subscriptions, Claiming It Didn’t Know About ThemEnglish222·3 days agoAbsolutely. However, if you are not the best with money, or on the irresponsible side; it might be best to take the annuity. Mathematically it makes no sense to do so, but if it stops you from blowing it all on hookers and coke in two years then its for the best. In other words, if you having it all is riskier than the state keeping track of it.

chilicheeselies@lemmy.worldto News@lemmy.world•‘Because of my Instagram posts?’ AOC swerves questions on 2028 presidential run2·13 days agoThere are a large number of people who voted for her and trump on the same ticket (they were both up for election this year). Her and people like her would do far better than any middle of the road dem could. Im convinced of that.
For some reason we keep hearing the same thing for the last ten years, yet dems cant denonstrate a consistent ability to beat Trump of all people with “moderates”. This “playing it safe” approach isnt working long term. Its embarrasing really.
chilicheeselies@lemmy.worldto News@lemmy.world•‘Because of my Instagram posts?’ AOC swerves questions on 2028 presidential run3·13 days agoShes my congresswoman, and i can say her and her office are genuinely great. Very responsive, religiously communicates with the district, etc. Basically do their job year round instead of just around election time.
That being said, id rather see her run for senate first. We need to see she can win across red and blue districts. I personally think she can, but we need to show that

They are dealing with personalities behind all of this, investors they made promises to, etc. What you are describing is the right thing to do, its just very complicated with a ship as big as microsoft to turn on a dime like that. The bigger the org, the slower it is to react and the harder it is to course correct
chilicheeselies@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Microsoft CEO says up to 30% of the company's code was written by AI | TechCrunchEnglish2·16 days agoI think it might actually start coming to fruition now that a lot of games have native support.
One of the only things stopping me from taking the plunge at this point is laziness to soft through all my data and make sure what i need is backed up before firmatting (i know, i need a good backup solution; open to suggestions here)

chilicheeselies@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Microsoft CEO says up to 30% of the company's code was written by AI | TechCrunchEnglish3·16 days agoQuality degredation and Disjointed experience comes to minds. Microsofts tech is such a mess right now i dont know how they come back from it honestly. Too many competing frameworks, bad schemas, broken tooling, bad documentation.
Im not even factoring in windows 11.
I used to be a windows dev guy, but with this landscape I dunno why i would do it to myself. Developing for linux systens is such a better experience. At least there are standards and ubernerds who adhere to them.
What they dont talk about much though is that many of those same atcs that got fired got rehired. Its such a specialized job and so few are able to do it that they really dont have a choice.
