I think with a lot of these chips geared at AI there’s so much variation in how performance is measured you can say things like it beats an H100 inferencing on a specific INT4 model and that might be true. However, it might only hold for that narrow case.
So press releases aren’t worth much to me. Show me benchmarks.
I don’t see how Huawei could have made that jump. There’s a lot of generational knowledge and software development behind Nvidia’s chips. No company can become a competitor first time.

Agreed, but the depth of most people’s political analysis is “they scare the people currently in power”, and that’s enough.

It’s very much an easy/west split in Germany, and the fact is the east is still feeling the effects of soviet control. What works for the richer west is not working in the same way in the east because the problems are different.
When you’re hurting, more of the same isn’t a rational option.

Whilst we’re still fighting those that caused Brexit I think we need to be careful of introducing instability with “in again / out again” policy swings. I think we’re best aiming at something which removes barriers but doesn’t stir up the anti EU sentiment that still exists.

My point is I don’t think they’re going to get very far.
UK & EU place tariffs on Chinese cars to level the economic playing field between European and Chinese brands (a responsible use of tariffs in my eyes). So the economic incentive isn’t there to choose BYD. Now it will come down to brand trust and car quality.
Even with dieselgate VW never lost it’s image of building high quality cars.
I think there a big brand trust gap with the Chinese brands that will take a while to close.

For a peacekeeping force to be sent, there has to be peace.
…but what are we actually trying to measure here? The miles travelled, or the wear and tear that’s caused by the wheels spinning?

Education allows you to reason about what you’re being told and filter out a lot of the bad stuff. It’s not perfect, but it helps you spot egregious “facts” and label the speaker appropriately as untrustworthy.
