Now it’s figuring out what to do with it.10·2 days agoThat movie is funny, but not in any way accurate or truthful. Half of the story is Boyd’s bitterness at having his own designs laughed at and the other is him not understanding how procurement and testing even work.
For example, in the move the protagonist discovers that vehicles meant for destructive testing had their fuel replaced with water and dummy ammunition. Boyd frames this as cheating to minimize possible secondary explosions. The reality is that fuel and ammo are removed from these vehicles so that they can be studied afterwards more easily. Penetrations into the magazine or fuel tank are easier to see when those components are not confetti.

What to know.52·3 days agoThis person could only bring sympathy from an anti-capital punishment absolutist. For those of us who oppose capital punishment because the Sate gets it wrong so often, we have to acknowledge some times they get it right.
Am I a hypocrite? DAE want them to end capital punishment the day after they fry Dylan Roof?

I’ve seen some of these docs in the “Turning Point” series and it’s not impressive. This seems like another boiler-plate History Channel doc where we gaze longingly at our reflection in the Vietnam war and bravely ask: what does this say about me?

But the collapse of the Soviet Union was brought about by material economic conditions, not by jumping up and down on their own dicks the way America is handling it.
I suspect the apt model for America’s future is the British Empire.

You’re not allowed to talk about bad faith in a debate forum? I don’t understand. How could that do anything besides shield the sealions, JAQoffs, and grifters?
And please don’t tell me it’s about “civility”. Bad faith is the civil accusation when the alternative is your debate partner is a fool.

And not because the work is unimportant. In fact it’s because so many industries rely on truckers that their compensation has been squeezed.

So speeding to a hospital is more likely to lead to a crash than save time; it’s irrational and emotional.

yesman@lemmy.worldto Games@lemmy.world•Man, I really slept on Days Gone (mini review)English4·9 days agoI found this game to be pretty mediocre overall.
The early-game motorcycle is not good. A big part of the game is upgrading your bike, and this is fine, but early game you’ve got a motorcycle that can’t outrun a dog, skids like you’re on black ice, and needs a fill up every three minutes. By the end of the game that bike is a joy to ride, but it’s weird to make a first impression like that.
The combat mechanics are good, but there’s the weird progression thing again where early weapons are stupidly bad. A single shot form an M4 was way more powerful than from an M14. If you’re like me, that’s annoying.
The zombies are what they get right. They’re fast and scary and they will destroy you. The hordes are challenging sandboxes of destruction that these developers nailed.

It’s “DEI” because black Alabamans were pushed into sub standard areas and neglected. This program was supposed to (minimally) address that.
