That is horrifying. It’s all horrifying. I always thought that with everything online that we’d all look at each other and do something, but from this to genocide, it feels like we’re stuck in “thoughts and prayers” mode when we should be at “torches and pitchforks.” They’re human beings, we’re human beings. We only get one life. Why the fuck are we doing this to each other.
Because commenting and sharing on social media feels like you’re doing something without having to actually do anything.
I don’t know, I feel like writing online and telling the traitors to eat shit can be a therapeutic release that keeps you engaged and allows some emotional distance without full dissociation
The worst thing you could do is check out and accept defeat. Or go to a protest without your face covered bc they’re using Clearview to track people
Given the media is being silenced it’s one of the few tools of communication we have left that hasn’t been entirely hijacked by people screaming I <3 free speech and free markets while suppressing both bc they know that in reality they would never survive a press or market they couldn’t control and manipulate
BING------FUCKIN--------OOOOOOOOOO
The state has a monopoly on violence and none of the people running the state have our best interests in mind or heart. They’ve sold out to money. From squares to strip malls.

I’m 40+ so, if I’m lucky, I’ve got about the same to amount of years ahead of me. It’s an interesting, slightly uncomfortable, feeling; knowing I will never trust the US ever again. If an american told me water is wet, I’d double check with just about anyone else before continuing a conversation. Very stupid people.
Well I take some issue with that. What’s happening isn’t because everyone’s dumber than you are, it’s happening because powerful people have systematically worked at making this happen. They fuck our schools, they remove our history, they do everything they can to keep this shitshow rolling.
Meanwhile, everyone’s just trying to fuckin survive. Someone told people they’d bring the cost of eggs down. That’s how politicians work everywhere. They lie to get in power. Here, there, everywhere.
Now, as a blue-collar anarchist I do my best. But most of these people never got critical thinking skills in the first place, and that’s the problem.
Education is failing people, and the Right is making sure of it. You’ll have this problem wherever you are, given enough time, if you’re not careful.
But what do I know, I’m just a hillbilly.
I’ll add to this that a lot of people calling others stupid, will then turn around and pray to Jebus and believe all the bullshit in their religious text.
Stupidty and complacency come in many flavors.
40+ here too, but in the US.
It’s wild. I’m sure it will come as no surprise that I grew up in a society that assumed America was the center of the universe and that everywhere else on earth was foreign and strange and may as well not exist because we’re the best at everything anyway.
It’s very strange and distressing to see how that image of our country has changed for me and for others our age.
My friend who is 40+ talks about remembering when America stood for something. He talks about ideals and values.
I’m 28 and have never really known such a place.
Yeah I remember that world. But I bet it helps that we were the last generation where our culture was pretty centralized around television & radio and not the Internet & podcasting.
In hindsight all I see is a corporate media veneer filtering anything my friends or I saw. But hey at least we got some fun Wild West years on the internet afterwards.
That’s fair. It’s just as likely I’m a reflection of modern media requiring engagement (rage-bait and fear-mongering) and negative foreign influence through online propaganda apparatuses.
Since there’s been some good replies to this I shall now add my oh so very important reply to the pile.
Water isn’t actually wet, water wets things. Is a cup filled with water wet? No, the cup is dry and contains water. Are freshly washed dishes wet? Yeah, they have some water on them that hasn’t dried off yet.
“Is water wet”, “Is (breakfast) cereal a soup” and “Are hotdogs a sandwich” are some of my favorite stupid nonsense arguments to have. It’s entirely pointless but there is an actual right answer going by the definitions
That’s… one way to totally miss the point. But you do you.

“When officers arrived on scene, they observed a chaotic scene with several federal agents from various agencies attempting to take a female into custody,” the department said in a news release. “Federal agents had placed this female under arrest and were attempting to leave in a vehicle. The crowd was unruly, and several people were putting their hands on federal agents and Worcester officers in an attempt to keep the vehicle and the arrestee from leaving. Worcester officers attempted to deescalate the situation and keep everyone safe.”
The thing we need to remember is that we outnumber them. Of course, our rising up will trigger the fascist escalation they desire. We’ll see how that goes, I guess?
It takes ten average people to flip a car. 4 strong guys…
This is how you radicalize people
Another woman, 38-year-old Ashley Spring of Worcester, was also arrested by local police after allegedly throwing “an unknown liquid substance” on officers. She is charged with assault and battery on a police officer, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, disorderly conduct and interfering with a police officer, Worcester police said.
Water it was water, or possibly Dunkin’s iced coffee water, but I bet it came out of a fucking drinking container. Deadly weapon my ass.
So, in MA, if you throw literally anything or any substance at anyone, Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon is the default charge, because state law defines “Dangerous Weapon” as “literally anything that’s not a part of your own body”.
Dangerous and weapon are redundant. And water is neither. Spit, sure but that’s because of diseases and should still be assault but not with a weapon. I hope a judge is rational enough to throw this out.
I’m not debating that it’s dumb. I’m just saying that’s what the law is that’s on the books, and that’s the book they’ll throw at you if they can.
If you’re gonna get arrested at least throw acid at these fucking cowards.
I’m sure anything below 6.5ph counts as deadly acids to these insecure bastards.
This shit is dystopian, but I have to admit that I’m mildly relieved to see these videos of crowds forming to yell at the thugs and get in their way. It gives me some small amount of hope.
One can only hope.

Just another day where bullies and abusers get to terrorize the populace with full throated approval from the state
Notice how the video is focused on the neighbors watching…but they blur it to ‘protect’ the identity of the ice thugs.
Don’t worry folks, US police have a stellar reputation for rooting out brutality and injustice in their ranks. I’m quite sure appropriate action will be taken.
I don’t need the /s tag here, right?
Fatass mfers with more gut exposed than covered by their plate carriers. I really don’t get how these idiots think they are the good guys.

While this comment may be in jest, it is scarily not far from the truth.
“There will be times when the struggle seems impossible. I know this already. Alone, unsure, dwarfed by the scale of the enemy. Remember this. Freedom is a pure idea. It occurs spontaneously and without instruction. Random acts of insurrection are occurring constantly throughout the galaxy. There are whole armies, battalions that have no idea that they’ve already enlisted in the cause. Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward. And then remember this. The Imperial need for control is so desperate because it is so unnatural. Tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle. Oppression is the mask of fear. Remember that. And know this, the day will come when all these skirmishes and battles, these moments of defiance will have flooded the banks of the Empire’s authority and then there will be one too many. One single thing will break the siege. Remember this. Try.”
The Trail of Political Consciousness (Nemik’s Manifesto)
By Karis Nemik from Star Wars’ Andor Season 1
Running out of real world examples where resistance has any effect on stopping or even slowing the glacial slide of fascism so we have to dig into fantasy to find hope and inspiration. We’re so fucking screwed.
Dude, this is not how humans work.
Humans need stories
“There is a wound that won’t heal at the center of the galaxy. There is a darkness reaching like rust into everything around us. We let it grow, and now it’s here. It’s here and it’s not visiting anymore. It wants to stay. The Empire is a disease that thrives in darkness. It is never more alive than when we sleep. It’s easy for the dead to tell you to fight, and maybe it’s true, maybe fighting is useless. Perhaps it’s too late. But I’ll tell you this… If I could do it again, I’d wake up early and be fighting these bastards… from the start. Fight the Empire!"
By Maarva Andor from Star Wars’ Andor Season 1
Wow, what powerful words created by a team of writers describing something make-believe that never happened. So inspiring.
“There once was a boy who felt sad about all the awful things in the world, but then he said “Stop it world! Be good instead!” and the world listened and became good and everyone lived happily ever after!”
There, doesn’t that help? Whenever you are overwhelmed with our dying planet, rampant corruption, and the enshittification of society as a whole; just remember my story! If you’re a child, you might just be able to convince yourself it’s really real and matters.
Unprompted, another has noticed the power of fiction. Perhaps there is a reason why we tell stories.
Wow, what powerful words created by a team of writers describing something make-believe that never happened.
It was written by a team of writers, yes. It did happen though. Maybe not the exact things you see on the screen, but it all happened for real somewhere in our world. Star Wars was originally about Vietnam, and they won against the US (The Empire) in real life. Andor is inspired by revolutions of our past as well.
Just because something is fiction doesn’t mean it isn’t real. Almost all fiction is talking about real things. The aliens in Star Trek aren’t aliens, they’re different races of people (or sometimes nations), for example. Fiction allows us to talk about real issues without people realizing you’re teaching them until it’s too late. If you told people Star Wars was about fighting against the US, it probably wouldn’t be as popular as it was. If you can trick them into absorbing it then they’ll internalize some of the message and carry it with them.
I bet you don’t even have a hat.
Maybe keep in mind the strategy is to overwhelm and traumatize people so they eventually check out/dissociate.
Its not saying everything will be ok, don’t worry, it’s saying don’t let yourself become overwhelmed with the horrors of every battle. It’s going to be happening a lot.
Not bad advice really bc total burnout/checking out is the quickest way to lose the war
Somebody offering some words of comfort or encouragement is way less harmful or dangerous than telling people resistance is futile, so they should just give up and curl into a ball…
Yelling at people on the internet is totally more effective. You’re right, my bad. I’ll start yelling at people too, instead of using fiction to inspire people.
Today’s America is the first twenty minutes of Half-Life 2.
Pick up the can
I wonder how much this joke ages us?
Like what is the oldest age the average person wouldn’t get this joke without the context of the comment you replied to.
I’m 54
Unsure if retro stuff in the games world will get back in fashion like with music. If there’s any one game that will be replayed it will be HL2.
But that might be a niche experience, the common shared experience is a decade long age group considering mainly of millennials or through the orange box maybe a couple of Zoomers/gen xers’
They made it free a few weeks ago on steam. I’m sure more than a couple zoomers (who are the generation after millennials) and Gen X’ers(the generation before/intermingled with millennials) played it. Although my experience with it is the orange box, there is a great many others who did not have an Xbox 360 who also fell in love.
Idk that depends, probably. I’m in my thirties, never played half life, and therefore don’t get the joke, even with context lol
Welcome, welcome to city 17. You have chosen, or been chosen…
And they wonder why travel to the US is down
No they don’t. They don’t even pretend not to know.
And somehow they’re gonna go home thinking they’re heros.

zero click internet
I went to look this up and DuckDuckGo automatically provided an AI-generated answer at the top of the page, before all the search results. I’m not quite sure what the word is for the odd way I’m feeling now. Probably some obscure term that only exists in another language.
I recommend ad-blockers (ublock origin), I haven’t seen ads in like years on my devices.
AdNauseum here. Might as well poison their ad revenue while we’re at it.
until the philosophy which holds one race superior and another inferior is finally and permanently discredited and abandoned everywhere is war

Marcus Garvey then?
not sure, i only know bob by his stage name
Robert Nesta Marley AKA Bob Marley, for the track “War”, added music to Marcus Garvey’s speech on racism
sorry, no one gets my jokes on the internet
Never gonna happen sadly, both prejudice and war are part of human nature
They’re really not. I’d recommend reading the Dawn if Everything by anthropologist David Graeber and Archeologist David We grow, which reveals that our true ‘human nature’ is actually egalitarianism and cooperation, and that our current modes of existence are an oddly different blip on the timeline of humanity.
I love this guy.
