Researchers will be paid the same as in the US right?

Until we fix our compensation problem and fractured financial markets we’re just gonna get screwed by the US over the long run. We need to act and demand higher pay.

You can have a better life with way lower renumeration in Europe, just by virtue of health care expenditure alone.

True, but when the salaries in the US are double or tripple that in Europe it just doesn’t work out. American labs are also better equipped on average. No way Europe can compete with the US for scientific talent. The money is just not there. Our only hope is that the US voluntarily exits the competition, which seems to be what’s happening.

Mate, Europe has billions of scientific funding (the ERC has a budget of around 16 billion, for starters). They’re literally the ones who developed the first two Covid vaccines. What on earth are you on about.

The US spends 80% more on R&D than the EU, while having 100 million less people. It’s just not close. The first step to changing something is to understand it. Huffing on copium helps no one.

That’s exactly what DOGE has done, they’re wrecking entire scientific fields and they changed the percentage of the money that can actually go to those nice labs for the things that didn’t get cut.

Cost of living is better here too. And you won’t get censored much if you work with transgenic mice and such.
