  • Hire the high school bullies to do their dream job while they’re still in high school. I worked at a prison for almost 3 years. You can’t be successful by bullying. The inmates outnumber the guards and they work out. It isn’t a wrestling match, it’s a game of chess. The inmates are always trying to get away with something. You have to be observant, intelligent, patient, and above all you must be fair to all of them. You aren’t there to punish them. Being there is their punishment. Your job is to keep them safe, fed, medicated, and entertained so they don’t riot and to prevent their escape. High school students playing mind games with 50 year old inmates will get tricked into breaking the law. Once you do that, the inmates own you. You end up working for them. Anyone who has spent time in a prison on either side of the bars knows this.

  • I don’t understand the downvotes myself. Everyone out there who didn’t have a fake ID or know someone who had one before turning 21, wished they did. It was legal at the time and location where I was doing it, but it was still shady. I don’t pretend it was ethical. I was an adventurer in my youth. I went to a far away city with no money and no place to stay. It isn’t easy getting off the street without a phone or an address. The kind of jobs you can get are not always 100% legitimate. The ID shop was owned by a local criminal organization and affiliated with the local undercover police. They didn’t care how many IDs we sold to teens who wanted beer. They wanted to know who might be buying them for identity theft. Since what we were doing wasn’t against the law strictly speaking, and we shared information about potential felons, they didn’t bother us.

  • Lots of people use fake IDs to check into hotels. They may not want people, like their spouse, to know they were there. I personally made thousands of fake IDs in the late 90s The majority of the customers were probably just teenagers who wanted to buy booze and smokes. A few of them probably wanted to commit identity theft. I never questioned the data they wanted entered on the ID. If you want the name to say Brad Pitt, your name is now Brad Pitt. If you want a birth-date to make you 22 years old, I didn’t care if you looked 15 or if you looked 50. If you said your gender was Female, that’s what I put on the ID. I asked no questions and made no attempt to verify anything they wrote on the form I had them fill out. I did inform them that, while possessing or making such an ID was not a crime, (at the time) presenting it to a law enforcement agent as identification or attempting to buy age restricted products with it was a crime. It was $40 for the ID and you got a free duplicate ID.

  • I dumped Windows about 18 months ago, before their recall and copilot BS. There are many Linux distros out there. They are free and there is almost nothing you can do with Windows that can’t be done on Linux. These days, most games for Windows can be played on Linux using Proton and Wine. There is no reason to keep Windows and plenty of reasons to dump Windows, like not wanting your personal data stolen or monitored by corporations and governments.

  • I saw a picture of the lady. She is tall, has short hair and kind of masculine facial features, but none of that is an excuse. The male security guard demanded to see her genitals to prove she was female. Female bathrooms only have stalls. Even if she had been a trans woman, no one else in the bathroom would have ever seen her naked crotch and she wouldn’t have seen theirs. The story here is a MALE hotel employee went into a FEMALE BATHROOM and demanded to see a woman’s genitals because she didn’t look girly enough for his standards.

  • I don’t see what the big deal is about bathrooms. I have been to bars and nightclubs and even gas stations where there is no gender assigned to the bathrooms. You have stalls and you have urinals. Anyone who only wants to pee and can do so standing up, uses the urinal. Anyone who needs to poop or wants to sit down while they pee uses the stalls. No one touches anyone else without permission and staring at anyone else’s crotch in the bathroom is creepy. I know men are creepy but I would argue that they will behave themselves better when there is more traffic in and out of the bathroom. Hanging a sign that restricts gender won’t keep a creep from lurking in there anyway.

  • I was in the military for over 10 years. A lot of LGBTQ+ people join the military for the same reason White straight men like myself did. They were out of options. I lived in a very rural area with no job or education opportunities and raised by an absentee single mother with no money or property. The military was a way out. Many LGBTQ+ people had the same situation as me. Many others were shunned or disowned by their families and had no other way to get ahead. Their families refused to care for them just for being gay. I served with many people who were as flamboyantly gay as you can get in a combat uniform and I never saw an issue. Never had any reason to doubt their intent or integrity. The people who caused the most problems were other White straight men, especially those from southern states.

  • No, not that I have seen. Job for life is some outdated Boomer generation shit. When people want to quit they just quit. But quitting on your own may mean no unemployment benefits. When an employer wants a worker to leave, for whatever reason, they come to ask the employee to resign and offer them some money for agreeing to quit. Usually about 3 months pay. The employee can also collect unemployment benefits for several months if the resignation is at the request of the employer. So if you want to quit, it’s better to make your boss want you to leave, without committing any crimes. That way they ask you to resign. Much better than it was in the USA.

  • As with most governments, Japan has a justice system that works slowly and methodically. Thousands of workers were not given their required notice or severance pay when they were unilaterally terminated. Twitter / Musk cannot make the case that the company was on the verge of bankruptcy and didn’t even bother trying to. He just assumed because workers have no rights in the USA that he could do the same thing in Japan that he does in America. By not paying the workers their severance or giving them proper notice he opened himself up to each individual having the ability to sue him for at least a year’s salary, probably more. The government can also attach additional fines and penalties because they have to dish out unemployment benefits for all of those workers because Musk broke the law. The water will boil when it boils and it won’t stop.
