I haven’t been able to come up with a good explanation yet. Previously, I thought it was just plain stupidity and ignorance. He isn’t doing shit to the government. He’s doing everything for the government, which is a republican administration. Everyone in that administration is accountable, including Musk. Everyone backing the administration is backing Trump and doge and Musk and their policies. These people will not change because they don’t see anything wrong in their doing. Force the hand of those who disagree silently to become loud to force changes, by making them accountable.

Though if you asked these people if they felt they should have higher taxes to pay for it, due to aging demographics and higher borrowing rates, they would say no as well. So what do you do?
Except only one department is really bloated and problematic: defense. Yet that’s the one department DOGE shys away from touching.
All while they gut departments that actually generate billions in revenue like the IRS, and give the wealthy tax breaks. They could also save hundreds of billions (more than DOGE has managed so far in all of their efforts) simply by passing single-payer healthcare for all, and a drug pricing plan similar to the Pharmaceutical Benefit Scheme in Australia - the govt would negotiate cheap prices for necessary prescription medication in bulk direct to Pharma companies and provide them to the US people at a much lower cost.
In reality, none of DOGE’s actions are to ‘save taxpayers money’ or make ‘smaller government’. It’s targeted sabotage to benefit the wealthy, and it looks like Elon is using it to grab all the data he can while he’s there.

There are a handful of kool-aid drinkers out there, and boy do I have fun talking to them when I visit my wife’s family.
I watched a bunch poc YouTubers drank musk and Trump’s Kool aid over the years, they went from not even talking about musk to constantly thirsting over him.
It would be illegal to set that house on fire and shoot them when they run outside. I’m sure some people would mourn the death of some flag waving nazi sympathizers. (I think this is one of those instances that only allows you to be pro state violence, anything else is gauche.)
